We found out that our entry in the national Pizza Hut “Hut. Hut. Hut.” competition was awarded 1st place. While it will not be used in it’s entirety as a Super Bowl ad it will be used as part of Pizza Hut’s official 2013 Super Bowl commercial. Out of 480 entries only 18 were chosen to be used in the final spot. It’s a pretty big honor to be awarded this and we’re excited to see our local actors in a Super Bowl ad.
Below is an example of some of what our entry looked like (so you know what part we did in the ad). But first the explanation:
We actually entered 4 videos (3 of which were almost all the same). The first actually had a story of a guy on the sidelines enjoying some piping hot Pizza Hut pizza. Each time the QB yells “Hut” his receivers look to the sidelines spying the Pizza. Upon “Hike” only the QB and Center remain on the field as the rest of the players charge (me) who is enjoying the pizza.
That was the first story which we shot and edited (even digitally added additional snow to some shots to keep the continuity). Then we found that Pizza Hut actually didn’t need a story but rather just some raw footage to use in their own montage edit… So we reedited the video into 2 additional SIMPLE edits with NO color correction and left it as raw as our perfectionist hearts would allow. Naturally the one we spent a lot of time and special effects on did NOT win. But one of the others did.
Unfortunately the competition rules state that the entries cannot be uploaded anywhere other than for the entry. So I can’t show the REAL entries, but here’s at least an example of the footage which they used. Again, this is not our actual entry but just some sample footage. I’m working on getting permission to upload the actual videos (including the one with the special effects…)
The following video is an example of the footage we submitted.
And this is the final edited Pizza Hut 2013 Super Bowl ad which includes the real footage and of course our local actors!
