Some 80 years later, our group of volunteers and veterans was retracing the footsteps of Eugene Kleindl, was served as an Army medic in WWII. A cemetery in Normandy, France is dedicated to num A cemetery in Normandy, France is dedicated to numerous American soldiers who gave thier lives fighting in WWII. This is the resting place of thousands of allied servicemen. We had a rare opportunity to visit this cemetary as part of a 2023 trip to France while filming a documentary. We accompanied a team of volunteer aides and two WWII veterans as we retraced their steps from 1944. The documentary is dedicated to the memory of Eugene Kleindl, one of the veterans on this trip. During a 2023 trip to France, WWII veteran Gene Kleindl spoke to a crowd at the Normandy Victory Museum. Gene shared stories from his years of military service with a captivated audience. Gene also had his photo taken in the museum. Everywhere we went, veterans Gene Kleindl and Bill Hunter were greeted as heroes by the locals. Bill performed magic tricks for the kids in France, and they were amazed.
