The allied soldiers of WWII gave everything they h The allied soldiers of WWII gave everything they had to save the world from tyranny. These brave young soldiers, many of whom were only 18 years old when they enlisted, went overseas to lay their lives on the line. Such extraordinary sacrifices are deserving of remembrance and sincere gratitude. From the shores of Omaha Beach to the forests near Bastogne, our group of volunteers and veterans was greeted with enthusiasm at every step of the way during a 2023 trip to western Europe, where we retraced the steps of WWII veterans. It is difficult to imagine how hard it was for those young soldiers at the time, and it is important for us to bear witness to history and to remain grateful for their efforts. A group of volunteers from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois were part of a special trip to Normandy, France in 2023. They helped look out for veterans Bill Hunter and Eugene Kleindl, who served in WWII. For the volunteers, this trip was an unforgettable experience. Bearing witness to history is a special thing for all involved. For some volunteers, it doesn't feed adequate enough to merely say "thank you" to veterans, in light of all their extraordinary sacrifices. However, saying "thank you" still goes a long way. In 2023, Stephen and Cameron joined a group of volunteers and veterans to travel to Normandy. These historic sites are the very same locations where thousands of allied soldiers stormed the beaches to push the Nazi forces out of France. It was a profoundly memorable experience to bear witness to history up close by visiting the war memorials with this group of volunteers. Thank you to the veterans for your service, and thank you to the volunteers for all your efforts.
